Shannon Gravitte

Shannon Gravitte is a dynamic community leader committed to preserving the quality of life we expect and appreciate in Orange County. Shannon and her husband John have been married for 14 years and have been residents of West Orange County since 2000. They are the proud parents of three wonderful children, Samantha, Carter and Molly, and are active members of Holy Family Catholic Church and School. Shannon also currently serves on the Board of the Orange County History Center and as a Host Committee member of Mayor Crotty's Women's Leadership Summit.

 

Shannon directs the Florida office of Public Strategies, Inc., a national strategic communications consulting firm specializing in managing issues for a diverse clientele that includes Fortune 500 companies, top professional firms and trade associations, and major not-for-profits.

 

Prior to joining Public Strategies, Gravitte served in a number of roles on behalf of U.S. Representative Bill McCollum, including senior communications adviser, press secretary and district director. In addition, Gravitte worked for Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood to further the mission and visibility of the city regarding homeland security in the wake of September 11, 2001.

 

Gravitte also has a depth of knowledge of the travel and tourism industry, having managed governmental affairs for Universal Orlando. During her time at Universal, she also served as a mentor and a member of the Orange County Community Action Board.

 

Shannon's blend of experience in government and business is uniquely suited for the office of District 1 Orange County Commissioner. As a wife, mother and professional businesswoman, Shannon will be a strong voice for the issues that affect our everyday quality of life.
